CSV to VCF converterfile

Drop a CSV file of contacts

From Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers or Outlook. Save as CSV first.

The file is read in your browser. Contacts are never uploaded.

[01] How it works3 steps
  1. 01

    Save your sheet as CSV

In Excel: File › Save As › CSV UTF-8. In Google Sheets: File › Download › CSV. Or copy the rows and paste them here.

  2. 02

    Check the columns

Drop the file. Each column shows an example value and what it will become; change any guess and see the preview update.

  3. 03

    Download and import

Download one .vcf with every contact (or a zip with one file each) and import it on your phone or in iCloud, Google or Outlook.

[02] Good to know2 notes

Columns are guessed, you decide

The converter reads the first row and guesses what each column is: first name, last name, phone, email, company, address and so on. It knows the column names Google Contacts, Outlook and iCloud use, and common ones in other languages. Every guess can be changed, and any column can be skipped.

Several phone numbers or emails in one cell (separated by ; or :::) become separate entries. Rows without a name, phone or email are skipped.

Import the file

iPhone: send the .vcf to yourself (AirDrop, Mail, Files), tap it and choose Add All Contacts. iCloud: icloud.com/contacts › the + button › Import Contact. Google Contacts: contacts.google.com › Import. Outlook: People › Manage contacts › Import contacts. Android: Contacts app › Settings › Import › .vcf file.

The file uses vCard 3.0, the version all of these accept. Accented letters and other alphabets are kept (UTF-8).

[03] Questions6

How do I convert a CSV file to VCF?

Drop the CSV on this page, check the column choices, and press Download .vcf. It all happens in your browser.

How do I import contacts from Excel to my iPhone?

Save the sheet as CSV, turn it into a .vcf here, then open the .vcf on your iPhone and tap Add All Contacts. Or import it at icloud.com/contacts so it syncs to every device.

What is the difference between CSV and VCF?

CSV is a plain table, one contact per row, good for spreadsheets. VCF (vCard) is the contacts format phones and email apps use, with typed phone numbers, addresses and more.

Can I convert CSV to VCF for Google Contacts?

Yes. Google Contacts imports .vcf files: contacts.google.com › Import › choose the file. It also imports CSV directly if the columns use Google's names.

Why are my names showing strange characters?

The CSV was probably saved in an old character set. Save it as CSV UTF-8 in Excel and convert again; the converter also tries the old Windows encoding automatically.

Is my contact list uploaded?

No. The file is read and the .vcf is made inside your browser. Nothing leaves your device.
